My last track meet as a High School Athlete

Wow.. I cannot believe that I have run my last high school track meet, I have been on a track team since I was in 7th grade. Unfortunately I did not end the way I wanted to end, it was not a good running day for me, but I made it to the finals for the 100.

It has been challenging I am filled with so much emotion both happy and sad times. I have dealt with injuries, team drama, disappointments, but I have also felt the extreme joy and the highlight of my HS track career was going to the State Championship for Winter Track in my junior year 2016, something that I had always dreamed of, many told me it was an impossible task and doubted my ability to get there. My parents always say the mind will dictate the body, want it, feel it, see it and you will accomplish it.

I was the first HS female athlete to ever go to the state championship for track at my high school. This accomplishment sits right at the top as the championship win in 2013 when the Pierson field Hockey team won the first state championship for our school.   I will always be a part of the Pierson History and 20 years from now when I return my name will still grace the athletic wall of fame.

My journey of running does not end, I have only scratched the surface, there is so much more that I have to bring. I will running on the Ithaca track team and I am so excited about being on a college team. I am excited to be working with Coach Potter whom I feel will push me to another level and I will explore so much about myself as an athlete.

This spring season I  added a new event to my list and that was
the long jump, in my mind I felt I could jump but I was never given the opportunity. I was told you need to be trained, we need you for this race, but I ended the season jumping 16.5 and I know I can do more. I am ready to be on a team with consistent training, I am ready for the next chapter of my journey. I see myself as the female Bolt, but only God knows what's in my future, but I am willing to work harder than everyone to accomplish this goal. I am ready for my new journey, Ithaca here I come.
