About Me

Allura Leggard is a second-year student with a major in journalism with a minor in African diaspora at the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College. She is from Sag Harbor, New York where she attended Pierson high school. There, she learned that she had a talent for public speaking. She started by speaking to groups of high school students and later college students about domestic violence. Allura knew at that time that she wanted to pursue journalism, but cemented her interest in the discipline after she had the opportunity to interview fellow journalist, Don Lemon of CNN.
Allura started with introduction to journalism, then moved to journalism research and is now enrolled in visual journalism where she is learning the role of a broadcast journalism. She has worked at ICTV and WICB (college radio station) and is a member of the Park Association for Journalists of Color and Ithaca College Women in Communications club. Not only has she joined clubs that have helped her in her major, she has also committed to other organizations. She has joined Sister for Sister, a group focusing on the empowerment of women of color and has taken a drone workshop course and got her license to fly drones.
